A Brief Overview

The Neuropsychology Fellowship at the Department of Pediatrics at University Hospitals of Cleveland provides applied and didactic professional development experiences to neuropsychology trainee at the fellowship level of training. With close supervision and guidance, fellows develop and enhance assessment and diagnostic skills, case formulation, and treatment design across the outpatient settings. Fellows are also exposed to diverse forms of neuropsychology and acceptable treatments. By the completion of the fellowship, successful candidates will have become familiar with accepted practices and procedures in the assessment and treatment of neuropsychological problems in diverse clinical settings. Fellows are expected to conduct themselves according to the highest ethical and professional standards, and they are expected to make meaningful contributions to patient care. Fellows are expected to maintain at least a 36-40-hour weekly commitment to the fellowship program, and before the start of any clinical activities, the supervision of the fellow will be registered with the Ohio State Board of Psychology in accordance to applicable stipulations of the Ohio Administrative Code. Their supervisor of record will approve and delegate all clinical activities performed by the fellow in compliance with applicable regulations. Participating in didactic activities is considered an essential part of the fellowship. To fulfill this expectation, fellows are expected to participate in the didactic activities provided by the Neuropsychology Fellowship Program as an attendant and as a contributor.

What You Will Do

  • Assessment and evaluation in the outpatient setting
  • Case formulation and treatment plan design
  • Presentations to colleagues and other learners on clinically relevant topics
  • Participation in scholarly activities as appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Qualifications

Education

  • Completion of doctoral program in psychology (Required) and
  • Psy.D or Ph.D graduate degree (Required)

Work Experience

  • Must have completed a practicum experience, fulfilled all course requirements from their programs as well as having successfully completed any comprehensive examination required by the degree granting institution. (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • This role encounters Protected Health Information (PHI) as part of regular responsibilities. (Required proficiency)
  • UH employees must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain PHI for our patients. (Required proficiency)
  • Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. (Required proficiency)

I mean I'm interested in the procedures and I feel like we do a lot of good. But like the thing that has me excited to come back every day is just that I work with such an incredible team. Really talented people and it feels like a family. I know that's like kind of trite to say but it does feel like that. ALVIN MANIGAULT: One of the things I was really impressed with my time being at UH, just from a managerial and leadership perspective, I think they do a phenomenal job. My leadership specifically in terms of just being involved and engaged and also listening as well to matters, issues or concerns and then working to establish some type of implementing change. I think subsequently for me as an employee, it really makes me feel as if I'm heard, my voice is heard and that also my perspective can have an impact on the overall overarching picture as well.
