Job Description & Qualifications
- Answers telephones in professional and courteous manner to ensure positive communication with providers, patients and customers
- Schedules patient appointments at the time of check-out
- Manage financial operations for the department to ensure optimal reimbursement and expense accountability.
- Provides and maintains financial report keeping support for the department.
- Ability to recognize and respond quickly to changing operational needs or special projects as assigned.
- Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers.
- Initiates and maintains positive relationships with co-workers.
- Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
- Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values.
- Ability to communicate with Physicians, patients and administration on complex practice management and billing issues.
- Cross-covers all areas of the practice as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
- Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
Work Experience
- 2+ years working directly with physicians in an inpatient or outpatient setting. (Required) and
- Finance experience (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Must have excellent customer service skills, with ability to communicate clearly with persons in stressful situations. (Required proficiency)
- Demonstrated ability to implement and monitor change. (Required proficiency)
- Strong knowledge of office machines (i.e. adding machine, telephone, printers, calculator, copy machine, FAX machine, etc. (Required proficiency)
- Strong PC skills.. (Required proficiency)
- Highly prreferred systems include: (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel – good knowledge & skill base), Soarian, Athena, Oracle (Iexpense, Iprocurement, SSI, Discoverer), Kronos, AEMR, UHCare Inpatient (Required proficiency)
- Keyboarding skills at 35 WPM. (Required proficiency)
- Medical Terminology. (Required proficiency)
